puma Clyde Suits
Color: Oatmeal-Puma Black-Puma white
What do Bonnie and Clyde have in common with Puma? Actually, the male part of the two-man gang and infamous crook Clyde represents the brand like no other – in some way. When Walt Frazier stepped foot into the locker room of the New York Knicks back in 1967, wearing his newly bought fedora for the first time, the whole squad bursted into laughter. From then on, the rookie was known as Walt ‚Clyde‘ Frazier, of course based on Warren Beatty a.k.a. Clyde – the lead character in the 1967 released movie. A nickname was born – and Frazier‘s reputation began to rise. One of the best perimeter defenders of all time. A two-time NBA champion. Last but not least, a fashion icon. Because fashion just came second to the sport of basketball. A combination of both convinced Puma to make him their main sports athlete, being one of the first ever to receive pay checks just for wearing a brand’s shoes. It doesn’t stop there: Puma even gave him his own sneaker, the PUMA CLYDE.
The combination of those two convinced Puma to sign Walt Frazier and – as already mentioned – give him his own signature shoe. As classic as ever, the PUMA CLYDE silhouette has remained with the latest SUITS. Also, don’t sleep on the iconic white outsole, which has earned its stay over the last decades. Last but not least, synthetic pony hair and a zebra pattern are responsible for a contrast Walt and his fedora would be very proud of.
